Build reading skills through connection, conversation, and creativity

Our summer book club helps students strengthen reading comprehension, vocabulary, critical thinking, and communication skills in a fun, low-pressure environment. Students participate in guided discussions, interactive activities, and creative responses that make reading feel engaging instead of overwhelming.

Students will:

  • Improve reading comprehension and recall
  • Practice expressing ideas and opinions confidently
  • Strengthen vocabulary and critical thinking skills
  • Build social connection through collaborative discussion
  • Develop a more positive relationship with reading

Best for:

Students ages 8-12 who enjoy stories, need extra comprehension support, benefit from social learning opportunities, or want to maintain and strengthen reading skills over summer break.

Why it works:

Book Club combines academic skill-building with meaningful engagement, helping students stay connected to learning over the summer without the stress of traditional tutoring. Discussions are supportive, encouraging, and designed to help all learners  feel successful participating.

A summer alternative to “Just more screen time”

Instead of losing reading stamina over summer break, students stay mentally engaged through stories, discussion, creativity, and connection–all while building confidence as readers and thinkers.
